Meet isabel de la luz, Registered mental health counselor intern
I’m Isabel, a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern under supervision working toward full licensure in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I hold a BS in Psychology and an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I’ve dedicated my career to helping people navigate life’s most challenging seasons.
In addition to my clinical work, I founded a nonprofit organization that supports victims of crime and their families. My background with genetic genealogy has given me a unique perspective on how our family histories and life experiences—both known and hidden—can shape who we are. This perspective often helps me connect the dots with clients who are exploring identity, generational trauma, and personal meaning.
I have experience working with individuals of all ages, but I have a special passion for working with children, teens, and families who have experienced trauma. I also work with adults processing grief, navigating life transitions, or working to break patterns that no longer serve them.
I believe people have the capacity to heal and grow, but sometimes life leaves us feeling stuck. In those moments, having a safe, supportive space to explore your story can make all the difference. My approach is grounded in person-centered, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed principles, meaning I meet you where you are while helping you understand the deeper influences that may be shaping your current challenges.
Clients often describe me as warm, validating, and authentic—with a willingness to be direct when it’s helpful. I welcome individuals from all backgrounds and identities and see therapy as a collaborative process where we both bring our strengths to the table. I believe healing is not only possible—it’s a deeply human journey we can walk together.
